The UNBC Timberwolves Women’s Basketball Team held a 21 point lead in a match-up with the University of Lethbridge Pronghorns Saturday night, but unfortunately gave it all up to lose 73-69.

Lethbridge made the massive comeback after being down 31-10 with six minutes left in the second quarter. Then, Mylanda Miller came off the bench for the Pronghorns, scoring all five of her points in three minutes to start the surge.

In the third quarter, the action stayed pretty level with the Pronghorns edging out the T-wolves 21-20 to set up an exciting fourth quarter.

The Pronghorns continued to battle hard and managed to take their first lead of the game off a Jessica Bachynski three pointer. Bachynski led all scorers with 17 points and recorded her second consecutive double-double performance with 10 rebounds.

The Pronghorns didn’t look back and managed to squeak away with the win. The victory now puts Lethbridge above the Timberwolves and into a tie with the MacEwan Griffins for 11th in Canada West. The Timberwolves fall to 3-9.

The Lady T-Wolves will look to get back on track next weekend when they host the Mount Royal Cougars from Calgary.

On the men’s side of the court, the UNBC Timberwolves weren’t so lucky either as the club fell 76-63 to the University of Lethbridge Saturday night.

Dejon Burdeaux continued to play strong for the Pronghorns scoring a team high 21 points and hitting all eight of his free throw attempts. Elliot Sentance put up a second consecutive double-double performance for Lethbridge with 15 points and 10 rebounds as well.

For the Timberwolves, Austin Chandler led the way, putting up 21 points and went 4 for 5 from three point land. James Agyeman was the only other UNBC player to reach double digits with 11 points.

UNBC has now lost four consecutive games and falls to 4-8 on the season. The Timberwolves will look to change that trend next weekend when they play host to the Mount Royal Cougars.
